Steven Mitchell

Steve Mitchell is recognized as a distinguished choral conductor, teacher, and soloist. He is the Director of Choral Music at Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford where he leads seven vocal ensembles in both  the Middle School and Upper Schools. His solo credits include: The Miami Bach Society, Florida Grand Opera, Miami Symphony, Concora, Connecticut Concert Opera, VOCE, inc., Summer Wind Performing Arts Center, and the New World Symphony Orchestra. Conducting credits include: The Miami Boy Choir, University of Miami Chorale & Men’s Choir, Hartt Suzuki Institute, Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Northern & Southern CT Regional Honor Choirs, and numerous school and religious organizations. As a community leader, Steve collaborates with several arts organizations, adjudicates for Fantastic Festivals, and is co-founder and technical director of the magical Hartford event NightFall. Mr. Mitchell is recognized throughout the Greater Hartford region through his 16 years of visionary work as Minister of Music & Arts at Asylum Hill Congregational Church where he oversaw the expansion of the Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival, the creation of the Asylum Hill Neighborhood Parade, founded the John & Edie Murphy Music for Humanity Concerts, and organized important artistic and civic collaborations with Hartford churches, synagogues and social service organizations.
