The Masterwork Chorus also performs at selected community events, as invited by local
organizations. The full chorus has performed since 2002 as part of Morris County’s
remembrance of the events of September 11. We have also performed at First Night Morris.

Masterwork’s annual series of Summer Sings in June and July, and its Messiah Sing in
December, invite all choral enthusiasts to join together in singing through classics of the
choral literature.

An important element of The Masterwork Chorus’s community outreach is its ReachOut! program to the elderly and infirmed. In this free, twice-yearly program, Masterwork presents short concerts of well-known choral pieces, folk songs and other popular works for residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals and rehabilitation facilities. Residents especially enjoy the final sing-along activity in which they are asked to join with the chorus in singing old favorites and patriotic songs from a sing-along packet provided to the facility.

Since Masterwork began its ReachOut! program in 1999, the chorus has visited more than 30 facilities, some of them several times, entertaining in total more than 5,000 people in Morris, Essex, Somerset and Warren Counties. ReachOut! is now a regular part of our performance season. Some of the friends to whom we have “reached out” have also attended our concerts in Morristown and other New Jersey venues. ReachOut! concerts are offered free of charge, although donations are gratefully accepted.
