Audition for our 2012-2013 Season
We welcome new singers.
The Masterwork Chorus announces auditions for new members for its 2012-2013 season. Experienced choral singers, in all voice parts are encouraged to audition. Join a group of talented singers who have come together because of their love for music. You will meet new friends and enrich your life through the performance of beautiful choral music.
The Masterwork Chorus rehearsals and auditions take place at New Jersey Youth Symphony, 570 Central Avenue, New Providence, NJ. Prospective members are invited to attend rehearsal on Wednesday, January 16 at 7:30 pm, during which auditions may be scheduled with Music Director Andrew Megill for the evening of Wednesday, January 30. Auditions are held at the New Jersey Youth Symphony space.
During the audition you will be asked to sing a short, prepared piece of your choice. You will also be asked to vocalize so that the Music Director can ascertain your range and to sight-read your part in a four-part piece. Although you need not have had formal voice lessons, every member is expected to be able to sing on pitch, with accurate rhythm, and have good sight-singing ability. Previous choral experience is also important.
After your audition, the Membership Chair will contact you with the results. Upon successful completion of the audition, you will be expected to pay your dues promptly. We encourage prospective members to discuss our dues structure and ticket policy with the Membership Chair prior to or during the audition process.
